'This is it, exploding forward.'
Martha, a gender-fluid person who helped turn an idea to paint a mural on Napalese into a three-day community celebration, said Weekend of Pride! got the support of more than two dozen businesses and community organizations, a sign that 'Green Bay has moved so far beyond that fear and lack of affirmation of the queer community.' Yet, all acknowledged there's still work to do. Members of the LGBTQ+ community said their decades-long struggle for visibility and acceptance in northeastern Wisconsin reached a turning point in recent years, culminating in last weekend's celebration.
